    How it works

Korea's official Revised Romanization writes each syllable of a given name separately and ignores sound changes between syllables, so 복남 becomes Boknam even though it is pronounced closer to Bongnam. A hyphen between given name syllables is allowed. Family names are not fixed by the rules, and long-standing spellings such as Kim, Lee and Park remain the most common.

Before you use it on official documents

If you already have a passport, keep the spelling it uses. Changing a passport name in Korea requires specific grounds. Treat these results as a reference.
